Aloria Vineyards sits in the heart of Murphys, in Calaveras County’s wine country, and it’s one of the few tasting rooms in Gold Country that actively welcomes dogs. When we visited with our dog, we were greeted without any hesitation or extra paperwork—just a straightforward yes, you can bring your dog inside or enjoy the outdoor areas.

The tasting room itself has a relaxed, refined feel. You’ll sample estate wines that reflect what the Sierra foothills terroir produces, and the staff clearly knows their stuff. They walk you through each pour without being pretentious about it. Since it’s a smaller operation focused on their own vineyards, you get a real sense of what they’re doing with the land here. The vineyard views from the tasting room give you that sense of place that makes wine taste better.

What makes this work well for dogs is the outdoor space. There’s room to move around, and you’re not cramped next to other tasters. Our dog could settle down on the ground or walk around between pours without feeling like a burden. It’s genuinely a spot where you and your dog can spend an afternoon, not somewhere you’re just quickly squeezing in a dog visit between human wine activities.

The winery hosts events throughout the year—everything from harvest celebrations to smaller gatherings. It’s worth asking when you call whether any upcoming events explicitly allow dogs, since policies can vary depending on what’s happening that day.

Murphys itself is a charming old Gold Rush town with tree-lined streets, so you could easily park here and explore the surrounding area with your dog before or after tasting. It’s the kind of place where stopping by a winery feels like a natural part of a larger wine country afternoon rather than the main event.
