AronHill Vineyards sits in Templeton wine country, where rolling vineyards and oak-dotted hillsides define the landscape. The winery produces six wines that rotate through their tasting lineup, each one available to sample alongside curated gift items if something catches your eye. What makes a visit here different is the personal touch—proprietor Judy Aron is often on site, and she’ll walk you through her process, from growing to bottling to the final product.
The winery itself is dog-friendly in the way that only a place run by genuine dog lovers can be. Judy and her team have four rescue dogs living on the property, so they understand that some of your best travel companions have four legs. If you’re bringing your dog along, they’re welcome on the outdoor deck where you can taste wines and order food from the on-site restaurant. That outdoor setup means you can relax with a glass while your dog settles in beside you, taking in the vineyard views.
There’s a bit of a wrinkle worth knowing about: because they have a restaurant operating on the property, dogs aren’t permitted inside the main tasting room itself. That said, they do make exceptions for well-behaved leashed dogs if space permits, so it’s worth asking when you arrive. The deck seating really is the better experience anyway—you get the vineyard air and a more relaxed atmosphere than being indoors.
Before heading out, check their website to confirm current hours and days they’re open. It’s worth the small effort since proprietor-run wineries sometimes adjust their schedules seasonally, and you want to make sure someone’s there to give you the real story behind what you’re tasting.
