Boatique Winery in Kelseyville sits in the heart of Lake County wine country, and it’s one of the few places around where you can bring your dog and actually relax over a glass of wine without feeling rushed. The property has this lovely avenue lined with ancient olive trees that provides natural shade as you wander around, which is nice on warmer days. The outdoor patio space is generous, and staff seem genuinely comfortable having dogs around rather than just tolerating them.
The tasting room itself is well-designed and not cramped—you get a real sense of space rather than feeling crowded in with other visitors. They pour their own wines, and the selection spans what you’d expect from a Lake County producer: reds, whites, and some of the blends the region does well. Even if you’re not a serious wine person, the casual atmosphere means you won’t feel out of place just enjoying a glass and watching your dog sniff around the grounds.
What makes this spot work is that it doesn’t feel like a production. You’re not herded through a rigid tasting format or pressured to buy. The patio lets you settle in for a while, which is what you actually want to do when you bring a dog along—sitting for an hour or so rather than hitting multiple places in one afternoon. The olive trees provide enough shade that even on moderately warm days it’s comfortable to stay outside with water for your dog nearby.
Lake County tends to be less crowded than Napa or Sonoma, and Boatique reflects that. It’s the kind of place where you could realistically spend a couple hours without feeling like you’re overstaying your welcome or blocking someone else’s reservation.
