Domaine Chandon sits in Yountville with views across vineyards that stretch toward the Mayacamas Mountains. If you’re driving through Napa Valley with your dog, this is one of the few wineries that genuinely welcomes them on the grounds rather than just tolerating leashed dogs at the entrance.
The winery has French roots—the sparkling wine program here is modeled on Champagne traditions, focusing on Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, and Pinot Meunier. During tastings, you can bring your dog along while you sample their wines. The grounds are open enough that your dog can move around without feeling confined to a tiny patio area, and there’s genuine lawn space where they can settle while you’re at a table.
What I appreciated during my visit was that the staff didn’t make a big deal about dogs being there, which usually means they’re genuinely set up for it. They weren’t constantly fussing or offering water bowls in an over-the-top way—just treating it as normal. The setting is casual enough that you don’t feel self-conscious about your dog being present.
The winery hosts various events throughout the year, and many of them are dog-friendly depending on what’s happening that day. If you’re planning a visit around a specific event, it’s worth checking their calendar first since some larger gatherings might have restrictions.
The surrounding area gives you options too. Yountville’s downtown is a short drive, and St. Helena is nearby if you want to combine wine tasting with other activities. Because Domaine Chandon lets dogs roam the property, it’s a good first stop if you’re introducing your dog to wine country and want to see how they handle the environment before committing to a longer day of tastings at other spots.
