Fenestra Winery sits on the historic Ruby Hill property in Livermore Valley, where a century-old George True Winery building anchors the grounds among 900 acres of vineyards. The Replogle family established this place, and they’ve made it genuinely welcoming for people visiting with dogs. The setting itself is worth the drive—you get the East Bay hills as your backdrop, and there are actual walking paths that wind through the vineyards. It’s a real experience to move through the property with your dog, not just stand at a tasting room counter.

The fresh air and space make a difference, especially compared to cramped wine bars in town. Dogs can come along while you’re tasting wines, and the outdoor setup means your dog isn’t confined to a small area. You’re not just looking at vines from a distance—you can actually move through them with your dog, which gives the whole visit a different feel than a typical tasting room. The views of the surrounding landscape are genuinely nice, and your dog gets to burn some energy while you’re exploring.

The winery hosts community events regularly, including live music and gatherings that draw both locals and visitors. It’s the kind of place where you’ll see other people with dogs, so there’s usually a relaxed social atmosphere. On summer evenings especially, the outdoor spaces come alive without feeling overwhelming—the sprawling property keeps things from ever feeling crowded.

The vineyard walks are really the draw here. You can loop through different sections of the property, getting a sense of how the land changes as you walk. The paths are easy enough for most dogs to handle, and there are spots where you can pause and take in the views without feeling like you’re in anyone’s way.

Since they do host events and have specific areas for dogs, it’s worth calling ahead to see what’s happening on the day you’re planning to visit. This helps you figure out what the crowds might be like and whether they have any seasonal adjustments to their dog policy. The winery works well as a centerpiece for a larger wine country exploration in the Livermore area.
