Graziano Family of Wines are handcrafted with history, heritage and care in Mendocino County, situated in the picturesque hills surrounding Hopland. The village itself has an interesting past—it was once the center of hop farming for beer production, which is where the name comes from. Today, though, Hopland has shifted its reputation entirely, becoming known instead for its excellent wine region and the vineyards that blanket the surrounding landscape.
The winery’s tasting room sits right in the middle of Hopland’s downtown, which means you’re within walking distance of several other tasting rooms, coffee shops, and restaurants. It’s a genuinely convenient setup if you’re spending a day exploring the area with your dog. The location works well because you can easily pop in and out, and the surrounding streets and nearby spots give you plenty of places to stretch your legs between tastings.
What makes Graziano different is the straightforward approach: no tasting fees, and all their wines are always available for sampling. They focus on handcrafted artisan whites, rosés, and reds, so there’s a decent range to work through. Beyond wine, they also pour their own extra virgin olive oil under the Monte Volpe label—it’s estate-grown and locally pressed, which is worth trying if you’re into that sort of thing.
The tasting room also stocks a small selection of merchandise: polo shirts, T-shirts, caps, and various gifts if you want to grab something to take home. It’s not an overwhelming gift shop situation, just useful stuff if you’re looking for a memento.
Since hours can vary seasonally, it’s worth checking their website before you head over. That way you won’t make the drive only to find they’re closed, especially if you’re coming from somewhere further down the coast.
