High Hill Ranch is a sprawling operation in the heart of the Apple Hill region, and it’s genuinely set up to handle dogs roaming the property while you eat and explore. One of the largest attractions out here, it draws plenty of families and tour groups, but the real appeal for dog owners is the sheer space—there are expansive grassy picnic areas where you can settle in with your dog nearby and actually relax instead of feeling rushed.

The food leans hard into what Apple Hill does best. You’ll find hamburgers and barbecued chicken, but the real draw is the apple everything: fresh pies, cakes, homemade caramel apples, apple donuts, and fritters. They make their own apple wine and serve fresh apple juice, which hits perfectly after walking around the grounds. The outdoor dining setup means your dog can hang out with you while you eat, which beats having to leave them behind.

Beyond food, there’s a trout pond on the property that’s genuinely peaceful. It’s the kind of place where you can actually sit for a bit, and your leashed dog can settle down while you take in the surroundings. If you’re into quirky roadside attractions, they’ve got an antique popcorn wagon and what’s apparently the largest collection of antique apple peelers in the county—dating back to 1850. It’s the kind of oddball detail that makes a visit memorable.

The seasonal schedule is worth noting: they’re open daily from Labor Day through Christmas Eve, so this is a fall and early winter destination. That actually works well for dogs since the weather cools down and the crowds thin out after the initial rush. The ranch accommodates groups and individuals alike, so you won’t feel out of place whether you’re just a couple with a dog or part of a larger party. It’s worth confirming their current pet policies when you call, but the layout and atmosphere suggest they’ve thought through how to make this work for people bringing dogs along.
