Homage Vineyard

102 Foothill Blvd., Calistoga, California 94515

(707) 490-8449

Homage Vineyard sits on just 5 acres along the Napa River south of Calistoga, far enough from the main tourist stretch that you’ll actually feel like you’ve discovered something quiet. The place has been here since 1973, and while it started growing mixed wine and dessert grapes, they committed entirely to Cabernet Sauvignon in 1999—a real focus rather than trying to do everything.

The vineyard welcomes dogs on the grounds, so you can walk around with yours and take in the river views without having to leave them behind or worry about strict restrictions. The setting is genuinely peaceful, not the kind of place where you feel rushed through tastings or pressured to buy cases. Guided tastings let you work through their Cabernet while actually sitting with the wine rather than standing at a bar.

What distinguishes Homage from the bigger operations in Napa is the sustainable farming approach and the smaller scale—you’re not one of hundreds moving through that day. The staff tends to know what they’re talking about because they’re working with grapes they’ve chosen to focus on entirely, not juggling a dozen varietals.

The Napa River location means the vineyard sits in a cooler pocket than some inland spots, which affects how the Cabernet develops. If you’re driving through the area heading toward or from Calistoga proper, this isn’t drastically out of the way, and the quieter vibe makes it worth the small detour. Bring your dog, spend an hour or two, and you’ll get a sense of what smaller Napa operations actually feel like when they’re not built around volume. The tasting room itself is straightforward—no Instagram-ready aesthetic, just the wine and the view.
