Le Vin Winery sits seven miles west of Cloverdale on Highway 128, a working 164-acre organic farm that’s been in the same family for four generations since 1983. The property is genuinely wild—rolling hills, open space, and the kind of quiet you don’t find near most tasting rooms. Your dog can explore the trails and dirt roads that crisscross the ranch, and the views from up there stretch out in every direction. If your dog enjoys hiking, this is the place. The maintained dirt road leading to the tasting room adds to the rural feel, though you’ll want to take it slow on the way in.
The tasting room itself overlooks the property, and dogs are welcome inside. What makes Le Vin different is the option for private tastings by appointment—these include both wine and olive oil, and you’re tasting with the owners themselves rather than staff. That kind of personal touch matters, especially if you want to ask questions about their organic farming practices or how long they’ve had dogs on the property.
The property works well for different activity levels. If hiking isn’t your thing, there are quieter roads without traffic on Mountain House Road that are fine for biking or a mellow walk. One thing to keep in mind: the tasting room is upstairs, which could be tricky if you have an older dog with mobility issues. Staff can likely work with you on this if you call ahead and explain the situation.
Since the property is fairly remote and the drive involves a mile of dirt road, grab supplies in Cloverdale or nearby Geyserville before heading out—there’s nothing up there. The location also puts you close to Dry Creek and Alexander Valley if you want to hit multiple wineries in a day.
