Marimar Estate

11400 Graton Road, Sebastopol, California 95472

(707) 823-4365

Marimar Estate sits in the rolling hills of Western Sonoma County, about 10 miles from the Pacific Ocean and roughly 50 miles north of San Francisco in the Russian River/Green Valley appellation. What you’ll notice immediately upon arrival are the striking 10-foot metal sculptures of springer spaniels—the estate’s own Chico and Bonita—a clear signal that dogs are genuinely welcome here, not just tolerated.

The winery focuses on creating a relaxed experience where you and your dog can spend time together without feeling like an afterthought. The outdoor seating areas are spacious, and dogs are free to move around while you settle in with a glass of wine. The surrounding vineyards and landscapes give you plenty of room to stretch your legs between tastings, and the views across the property are genuinely lovely whether you’re sitting down or walking around.

Marimar offers guided wine tastings and tours if you want something more structured than just browsing on your own. The estate regularly hosts seasonal events and activities that specifically welcome dogs, so you’ll sometimes find other dog owners there doing the same thing you are. It’s a good opportunity to chat with people while tasting wines, without the stuffiness that can come with some wine country visits.

The location makes sense for a wine trip from the Bay Area—close enough for a day visit but far enough out that you get real vineyard scenery and a slower pace. Bring a blanket or your dog’s favorite toy to settle in for a longer stay. The grounds have enough space that your dog won’t feel cramped, and the casual atmosphere means you’re not worrying about your dog being in the way. Call ahead if you’re planning to do one of their guided tastings, just to confirm current policies for dogs on specific experiences.
