Peachy Canyon Winery sits in Templeton, right in the heart of San Luis Obispo County’s wine region, and it’s one of the few places around here where you can bring your dog along while you’re tasting wine. The winery focuses on Zinfandels—that’s their specialty—but they also pour Cabernets, Merlots, and various blends so there’s something for different tastes.
The setup works well if you’re traveling with a dog. You can walk around the vineyard grounds with your dog while sipping wine, which beats standing at an indoor bar. The grapes come from Paso Robles vineyards in the area, and the winemaking team is clearly selective about what they work with. When you taste through their lineup, you notice the effort they put into getting quality fruit.
What makes this place practical for a dog visit is that it’s not pretentious in a way that makes you feel rushed or uncomfortable. The staff seems genuinely fine with dogs being there, which takes some of the stress out of trying to figure out where your dog can sit while you’re swirling wine. On a nice day, you can spend a couple hours working through their tasting menu at your own pace without feeling like you’re holding up a line.
The vineyard location means you’re not squeezed into a downtown tasting room with other visitors. There’s actually space to move around, and your dog can get a feel for the property. If you’re spending time in the Paso Robles or Templeton area and want to check out local wine, this is a straightforward option that doesn’t require leaving your dog in the car or at your hotel.
