PlumpJack Winery sits on a 42-acre estate in Oakville, right in the heart of Napa Valley wine country. The vineyard focuses on Cabernet Sauvignon, and that’s really what they do well. What matters if you’re coming with your dog is that they welcome them in the outdoor areas where you’ll be tasting anyway.
The property itself has that typical Napa aesthetic—rolling vineyard views, well-maintained grounds—but what makes it practical for a dog visit is that they don’t restrict you to tiny designated spots. You can bring your dog to the tasting areas and settle in for a few hours without feeling like you’re in the way or being told your dog doesn’t belong there. The outdoor setup means your dog gets shade, open space, and the same experience you do, just from a different perspective.
They pour both reds and whites, but they’re really known for the Cabernet. If you’re not deep into wine, it’s still worth the visit because you get the full Napa experience without the stuffiness that some wineries lean into. The staff treats dog owners like regular customers, not like they’re doing you a special favor by allowing your dog on the property.
Oakville itself sits between Rutherford and Yountville, so you could easily structure a day around visiting here and a few other spots. The grounds are nice enough that you won’t feel rushed—this isn’t a quick stop situation. Plan on spending a couple of hours if you’re actually tasting through their lineup. Bring water for your dog since it’s sunny and can get warm, and aim for an earlier visit if you’re going in summer when the afternoon heat gets intense.
