Located only 15 minutes from downtown Petaluma and less than an hour from San Francisco, McEvoy Ranch spreads across 50 acres of Tuscan olive trees dotted with natural ponds, coastal fog, and native wildlife. It’s a small, family-owned working farm that’s been producing estate olive oil for years, and the place has a genuinely relaxed feel—you’re not walking into some slick corporate operation.

Dogs are welcome to explore the property with you. You can bring your dog along on a Ranch Tour or settle in for an afternoon tasting on the patio. The setup is straightforward: your dog needs to stay on leash and you’re responsible for keeping an eye on them throughout your visit. There’s one important caveat if you’re doing the full ranch tour—dogs aren’t allowed inside the Olive Oil Mill itself, so one person will need to stay outside with your dog while others go through. It’s worth planning for if you’re visiting with a group.

The ranch takes dogs seriously in the details. They offer dog treats and have set up a custom water bowl station that works for dogs of any size, which matters more than you’d think on a warm afternoon in wine country. If you’re tasting oils on the patio, your dog can hang out right there with you while you sample, which beats sitting in a hot car by a mile.

The setting itself is what makes this worth the drive—you’re surrounded by those olive groves with actual coastal fog rolling through, and there’s something pleasant about experiencing that landscape with your dog rather than leaving them behind. It’s working farm authenticity without the pretension you sometimes get at wine country destinations.
