Rombauer Vineyards

3522 Silverado Trail North, St. Helena, California 94574

(800) 622-2206

This St. Helena winery sits high on a tree-covered knoll just off Silverado Trail, with a lovely porch overlooking the Mayacamas Mountains. The setting feels genuinely peaceful—the kind of place where you notice the quiet between sips. There’s a garden with over 100 varieties of plants and flowers, along with whimsical art pieces that owner Koerner Rombauer has collected over the years. Wine caves are also on the property if you’re curious about what’s happening behind the scenes.

The tasting room itself has a relaxed vibe. Depending on the weather and available space, your appointment might happen at the bar inside or out on that porch with the mountain views. Either way, tastings run about 30 minutes, so it’s not a rushed experience. After you’re done, you’re welcome to walk the pathways or spread out for a picnic in the garden if you want to linger.

Bringing your dog works well here since there’s space to roam on the grounds. Just keep them leashed and clean up after them—pretty standard stuff that keeps things nice for everyone. The winery does limit group sizes to no more than 6 guests at a time, which actually makes the whole experience feel more intimate than some of the busier tasting rooms in the valley.

You’ll want to check their website for current days and hours before heading out, and note that tastings require an appointment rather than walk-ins. The combination of the garden, the art, the views, and that generally low-key atmosphere makes this a good option if you’re looking for something quieter than the big-name operations but still serious about wine.
