Silvestri Vineyards sits in Carmel Valley, a quieter wine region compared to Napa or Sonoma, and they welcome dogs throughout the property. The tasting room is comfortable without being pretentious—you can bring your dog inside and sample their Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, Syrah, Barbera, Pinot Blanc, and Pinot Gris while your dog settles on the floor beside you. Everything is made and bottled on-site, which means you’re tasting wine that didn’t travel far from where the grapes grew.
The location matters if you’re exploring Carmel Valley as a whole. You’re close enough to take a short drive from Carmel-by-the-Sea’s downtown shops and beaches, but far enough away that the vineyard feels like a genuine escape. The tasting room itself has a relaxed feel—staff don’t rush you through your samples, and they’re straightforward about what they’re pouring without unnecessary jargon.
Dogs can come in the tasting room, which is the big advantage here. It means you’re not stuck leaving your dog in a hot car or having to choose between wine tasting and your travel plans. That said, this is still a working winery, so common sense applies—keep your dog close and calm, and be aware of other visitors who might be there.
Carmel Valley has several good walking spots nearby if you want to stretch your legs between tastings. The drive up Valley Green Road has nice views, and there are pulloffs where you can get out briefly. If you’re planning to visit multiple wineries in the area, Silvestri works well as a stop where you don’t have to make a hard choice about whether to bring your dog along. Just plan on spending an hour or so—these aren’t high-volume tasting rooms designed to move people through quickly.
