Spelletich Family Winery started in 1994 with their first wines: Cabernet Sauvignon, Chardonnay, and Bodog Red—a blend that became wildly popular and helped launch what’s now a four-brand operation. Today you’ll find Spelletich Cellars, SPELLwine, 3 SPELLS, and Crush 94 all under one roof, each with its own character and following.
The winery sits just seven minutes south of downtown Napa in the Crusher Wine District, a neighborhood that’s become the heart of Napa’s wine scene in recent years. It’s the kind of place where you can actually watch winemaking happen—depending on when you visit, you might catch harvest, crush operations, or bottling in action. There’s something real about seeing the process unfold rather than just tasting the finished product.
One thing that makes a visit here different is that you’ll actually meet the owners and winemaking team, not just tasting room staff. They’re making limited-production boutique wines, which means you’re tasting things you won’t find everywhere else. The focus is on quality over volume, and it shows in what’s in your glass.
If you bring your dog, you’ll probably meet Ivy, the winery’s Boston terrier, who’s known for playing catch among the barrels. It’s that kind of place—informal and genuine, where your dog is welcome to be part of the experience rather than just tolerated. The Crusher Wine District itself has become a destination where multiple wineries cluster together, so you could easily spend an afternoon hopping between a few tasting rooms with your dog in tow.
Check the winery website for current hours before you go, as they vary seasonally. The Crusher Wine District is worth exploring beyond just this one stop—there’s real energy in the neighborhood now.
