Wiens Family Cellars sits in the heart of Temecula’s wine country, where the family has been farming their own grapes and making wine for generations. They focus on bold, full-bodied reds that have picked up gold medals, along with some lighter options like their sparkling Amour De L’Orange if you want something less intense. The tasting room itself is genuinely striking—exposed beams and natural light make it feel open and welcoming rather than stuffy or pretentious.
If you’re bringing your dog, you’ll want to plan to spend most of your time on the outside property, since only ADA service animals trained for specific tasks can go inside the buildings. The good news is that the grounds are actually nice for walking around with a leashed dog while sipping wine. The barrel room is apparently one of a kind if you do manage to get inside for a tour, though you’d need to leave your dog outside for that part.
The winery keeps things pretty low-key and family-oriented, which means it’s not going to feel like a scene. Bring water for your dog since you’ll likely be outside for a while, and obviously keep them leashed and under control—they ask that you clean up after your dog and note that any animal being disruptive or unsafe won’t be welcome back.
Since Temecula gets hot, an early morning or late afternoon visit probably works better than midday if you’re planning to spend much time outside with your dog. Check their website before heading out to confirm their current tasting room hours, as they can vary seasonally.
