Marin County

Marin County pours small and coastal. A handful of producers hold vineyards around Nicasio, Chileno Valley, and the Tomales ridge — pinot noir and chardonnay grown under fog that sits until midmorning. Cool ground, slow ripening, low yields. Tasting rooms lean appointment-only, pour from ranch buildings, and welcome a leash on the porch. Point Reyes National Seashore allows dogs on Kehoe, Limantour, and the Lighthouse road beaches; Tennessee Valley in the Marin Headlands opens a leashed trail to the sea. Pair a Nicasio pinot with a beach walk at Limantour. Marin’s wine country is quiet, spare, and worth the drive.
