Southern Oregon

Southern Oregon is the state’s warmest wine country — Tempranillo and Rhône reds from the Applegate Valley’s granite benches, Rogue Valley syrah around Jacksonville, Umpqua pinot gris on the north end near Roseburg. Interstate 5 delivers you, but the tasting rooms are on back roads between oak savannah and fir ridges. Fewer crowds than the Willamette, same caliber of winemaker. Bring a chair, the dog, and a full afternoon.
